Interview with a Smoothie Expert on Energy Boosting Smoothies

Smoothies are a great way to start your day or refuel after a workout. They can also be used as an energy boost throughout the day. We spoke to smoothie expert and registered dietitian, Sarah Johnson, about her favorite energy boosting smoothie recipes.

Q: What are some good ingredients for an energy-boosting smoothie?

A: There are several key ingredients that can help boost your energy in a smoothie. First is protein, which helps to keep you feeling full and energized throughout the day. Second is healthy fats like avocado or nut butters which provide sustained energy. Finally, adding fruits and vegetables high in fiber and vitamins will help keep you feeling alert.

Q: What’s your go-to recipe for an energy-boosting smoothie?

A: My favorite recipe is what I call the “Green Goddess.” It has spinach, kale, banana, almond butter, hemp seeds and coconut milk. The greens provide important nutrients while the banana adds natural sweetness and potassium. Almond butter provides healthy fats while hemp seeds add protein.

Q: How do you recommend people use smoothies for an energy boost?

A: Smoothies can be consumed any time of day but I usually recommend them in place of snacks between meals or after exercising to aid recovery.

Q: Can you suggest any other recipes that might give us an extra kick of caffeine without resorting to coffee?

A: Of course! Try blending up frozen berries with matcha powder (green tea) instead of water for added antioxidants and caffeine without jitters from coffee.

Q: Do you have any tips for making sure our homemade smoothies don’t turn out too sugary?

A: You want to avoid using sweetened yogurt or fruit juices as they contain added sugars which can spike blood sugar levels leading to crashes later on during the day.Try using unsweetened coconut milk or almond milk. Also, use only a small amount of naturally sweet fruits like bananas to keep sugar levels in check.

Thank you so much for your time, Sarah! I’m sure our readers will find these tips and recipes helpful for their energy-boosting smoothie needs.
