Fruits are nature’s candy – sweet, juicy and oh-so-delicious. But did you know they’re also incredibly healthy? Not only are they packed with vitamins and minerals, but they’re also a great source of fiber.
Let’s start with the classic fruit – the apple. It’s crisp, refreshing and comes in so many varieties you could try a new one every day for a month. Plus, it’s an excellent source of vitamin C and antioxidants.
Next up is the banana. Sure, it may be the butt of some jokes (pun intended), but this curved fruit is no laughing matter when it comes to nutrition. It’s loaded with potassium which helps regulate blood pressure, as well as vitamin B6 which boosts your immune system.
Moving on to something a little less conventional – how about kiwi? This fuzzy little fruit might look unassuming, but don’t be fooled! It has more vitamin C than an orange and contains enzymes that aid in digestion.
If you’re looking for something tropical, try papaya. Not only does it taste like paradise in your mouth, but it’s also chock-full of vitamins A and C which promote healthy skin and eyesight.
Last but not least is the watermelon. Perfect for summertime snacking or picnics in the park, this juicy fruit is hydrating (it is 92% water after all) and provides both potassium and lycopene which can help reduce inflammation.
So next time you have a craving for something sweet, skip the candy aisle at the store and head straight to the produce section instead!
