Grilled Marinated Asparagus Skewers: A Healthy and Delicious Side Dish

Asparagus is a delicious and nutritious vegetable that can be enjoyed in many ways. One of the best ways to prepare asparagus is by marinating it and grilling it on skewers. Marinated asparagus skewers are not only easy to make, but they are also very healthy and full of flavor.

To make marinated asparagus skewers, you will need fresh asparagus, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Begin by washing the asparagus spears thoroughly under running water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Then trim off the tough ends of each spear using a sharp knife or a pair of kitchen shears.

Next, place the trimmed asparagus spears into a large bowl or baking dish. In another bowl whisk together 1/4 cup of olive oil with 2-3 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar until well combined. Add one teaspoon each of garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the mixture and stir well.

Pour this marinade over the top of the asparagus spears in your baking dish or bowl making sure they are evenly coated on all sides. Cover your dish with plastic wrap or aluminum foil then refrigerate for at least an hour so that all flavors will soak in completely.

Once ready to cook remove from fridge let sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes before cooking then preheat grill over medium-high heat – about 400 degrees Fahrenheit should work great depending on what type of grill you have access to (charcoal vs gas).

Thread three to four spears onto each skewer lengthwise so that they lay flat against one another without overlapping too much if possible – this helps ensure even cooking times across different parts while still being able to get some nice char marks going! Place skewers directly onto hot grill grates making sure there’s enough space between them so they don’t touch any other pieces during cooking process.

Cook for about 7-10 minutes, turning occasionally until the asparagus is tender and charred in some spots. Be careful not to overcook the asparagus as it can become mushy if left on the grill for too long.

Once done, remove skewers from heat source and plate them up! They’re great when served hot or warm alongside your favorite protein source such as grilled chicken or fish or even just with a side salad topped with vinaigrette dressing.

Overall, marinated asparagus skewers are an easy and healthy way to enjoy this delicious vegetable. The marinade adds extra flavor that makes them taste even better while also keeping their nutritional value intact. They can be served as a side dish or paired with other foods to create a complete meal that is tasty and good for you. So next time you want to try something new, give these skewers a shot – they won’t disappoint!
