A: Hi there! I’m so happy to be here. Well, for me, it was really about finding a balance that worked for my body and made me feel good both physically and mentally. I’ve always loved food – cooking it, eating it, sharing it with others – but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized the importance of fueling my body with nutritious foods that give me energy and make me feel strong.
Q: That’s great to hear! Can you share some tips or strategies that have helped you maintain a healthy diet while still enjoying your favorite indulgences?
A: Absolutely! One thing that has been crucial for me is meal planning. I like to sit down at the beginning of each week and map out what meals I’ll be making so that I can ensure they’re balanced and packed with nutrients. This helps me avoid impulsive fast-food runs or reaching for unhealthy snacks when hunger strikes.
I’m also a big believer in moderation rather than deprivation. If I’m craving something sweet or indulgent, I’ll allow myself to enjoy it in small portions without feeling guilty. It’s all about listening to your body’s cues and finding what works best for you.
Q: Your cookbook “Cravings” has been a huge hit among fans who love its delicious yet approachable recipes. Can you tell us about some of your favorite go-to recipes from the book that promote healthy eating?
A: Oh yes! There are so many recipes in “Cravings” that are both flavorful and nourishing. One of my favorites is the Thai Beef Salad – it’s light yet satisfying thanks to the mix of fresh veggies, herbs, and grilled beef tossed in a tangy dressing.
I also love the Roasted Carrots with Avocado Cream; it’s simple yet so delicious! The sweetness of roasted carrots paired with creamy avocado makes for a perfect side dish or snack.
And let’s not forget about my Crispy Chicken Milanese – this dish is baked instead of fried but still packs plenty of crunch and flavor without all the added oil.
Q: Balancing work commitments, family life, and self-care can be challenging at times. How do you prioritize self-care practices such as exercise and mental well-being amidst your busy schedule?
A: It definitely can be tough juggling everything on my plate (no pun intended!), but self-care is non-negotiable for me. Exercise plays a big role in helping me stay grounded and energized throughout the day. Whether it’s going for a run outside or doing yoga at home, moving my body always boosts my mood.
Mental well-being is just as important as physical health too. Taking time for myself – whether it’s reading a book before bed or practicing mindfulness meditation – helps me recharge mentally so that I can show up fully present in other areas of my life.
Q: Lastly, what advice would you give to our readers who are looking to adopt healthier eating habits but may not know where to start?
A: My biggest piece of advice would be not to overwhelm yourself by trying too much at once. Start small by incorporating more fruits and vegetables into your meals or swapping out sugary drinks for water or herbal tea.
Experimenting with new flavors & ingredients can make healthy eating exciting rather than restrictive; don’t be afraid to get creative in the kitchen!
